Dr Aovana Timmerman completed her BDSc at Melbourne University in 2001 and subsequently worked in private practice and community dental clinics, along with demonstrating in the Dental Teaching Clinic at the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne (RDHM). After completing her fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS) in 2010, she continued with a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in Endodontics at Melbourne University. In 2013, she was awarded the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Endodontics (ANZAE) JM Booth award to attend the IADT Trauma Congress in Istanbul.
As part of her specialist training, she also worked in Emergency Services at RDHM and provided endodontic treatment for patients in Plenty Valley Community Clinic and Melbourne Dental Clinic up to 2016. She has special interests in pain diagnosis, dental trauma, regenerative endodontics and internal bleaching.
She currently holds membership with RACDS, the Australian Dental Association (ADA) and Australian Society of Endodontology (ASE). Outside of clinical work, Aovana has a diverse range of interests, which includes felting, bushwalking, photography and languages. She is fluent in Mandarin (Chinese) and has also studied French, Latin, Japanese and Korean.
